Paradox Development Studio makes world-leading grand strategy games that our fans spend hundreds of hours in, and our art teams make sure we do it in style! We are currently looking for an animator to join our team working on an upcoming, unannounced game!
About the role:
You will work collaboratively with the rest of the art team to develop and set the new standard for strategy games! You will work directly with the Art Director, Animator and the rest of the team to increase the animation quality and immersion through richly detailed and believable Animations. Planning its execution as well as overseeing the animation vision, and ensuring that this style stays consistent across all aspects of the game. We think that you enjoy, have experience and are skilled in animating humanoids, non-humanoids as well as constructions and mechanisms.
Responsibilities:
- Establish, create and maintain animations that will bring our game world alive in order to build an immersive and exciting experience.
- Setup rigs for our 3D characters, assets and simple mechanical objects.
- Collaborate with the art team, designers, and engineers to implement animation assets.
- Establish methods and R&D new tech to improve the production pipeline, tools and systems that will benefit the integrity of the animation for the studio.
- Be the main point of contact and the driving force for animation and tech animation on the project.
- Apply game-required techniques such as blending, tagging, state machine transitions, animation blending trees, compression, etc.
The skills we’re searching for…
- 3+ years of Animation experience for in-game purposes.
- Prestigeless when giving/receiving feedback from leads or peers, and having no issues taking up another artist’s task or putting down their own work to let others finish it.
- Strong creative process to translate gameplay requirements into visual designs: information gathering, research, detailing, and iterations.
- Articulate in contextualizing decisions, communicating ideas and giving feedback.
- Comfortable using English in spoken and written form.
- A keen eye for consistency and readability, and a mindset for believability and efficacy.
- Experience working in Maya.
