Job Description

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Director, Animation Engineering to join the development of a new IP.

You will help direct and define our project’s game engine technology, and how we optimize content, workflow, and performance. By leading a team of engineers and working in close partnership with fellow directors and leads across the project, you will boldly craft, coordinate, and prioritize explicit and attainable objectives for the engineering teams within the Engine organization.

As a leader on the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.

You’ll help us by…

  • Push the animation system to the forefront
  • Drive the vision and roadmap animation systems for the next 5 years and beyond
  • Working with other engineers, to actively implement the core animation systems
  • Collaborate with engineering, design and art teams around the globe
  • Participate in the design, performance and code review process

You’re awesome because you have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Math, or a related field
  • At least 10 years experience in computer animation or related field
  • Comfortable with of the state of the art in computer animation
  • Have shipped at least 1 AAA games
  • Proficient with code and data optimization
  • Strong C/C++ skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Excellent math skills
  • Good knowledge of CPU and memory architectures
  • Proven debugging skills including the ability to debug at an assembly-level when necessary
  • Creative, motivated, focused, passionate

Bonus Points:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a lead or technical director
  • Have shipped multiple AAA games
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science
  • Experience with shader programming languages
  • Experience with animation compression and streaming
  • Confident with writing efficient, clean, readable, portable, and reliable code
