We’re searching for a Lead Engine Programmer to join us in Boston. In this role you’ll take on the dynamic of being a Lead and a Programmer. You will be the driving force behind growing and maintaining effective teams, providing feedback, and nurturing the development of team members. You will also use your Unreal Engine expertise to not only harness its power but also shape and push the technology further. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and expanding existing features, ensuring that technology never limits our imagination.
Daily Responsibilities
- Develop architectural proposals and guide the vision for diverse engine systems, ensuring they meet desired functionality and performance standards.
- Proposing tools or technologies that could enhance the ability to deliver great engine systems support.
- Owning and driving engine topics, and making decisions about them.
- Proposing and implementing solutions to the challenges of performance and scale of a large open-world game.
- Mentoring team members on how to get the most out of Unreal Technology.
- Motivating and energizing the team members.
- Cultivating the team culture in line with the company’s values and goals.
- Cascading and escalating information.
- Making Employment Decisions.
- Cooperating with Epic to share ideas and find ways to take the technology forward.
- Creating a game that delivers memorable experiences to players.
- Working across all disciplines to ensure that the engine technologies are meeting the needs of all stakeholders.
- Proven experience as a Manager or Lead.
- Strong proficiency in C++ coding, evidenced by a track record in commercial, open-source, or private projects.
- At least 8 years of professional experience as a programmer within the games industry.
- Deep knowledge of Unreal Engine.
- Deep knowledge and experience in one or more engine related focus areas including but not limited to rendering, tools, physics, etc.
- Experience in working on various platforms.
- Strong system architecture skills.
- Ability to debug and optimize code.
- Experience with multithreaded programming.
- Experience with RPG and/or open world games will be very welcome.
- Can think and work creatively, taking initiative to solve problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently.
- Drive towards professional growth.
- Agile mindset is a plus.
- Passion for creating games.
