Job Description
Wargaming is seeking an experienced Level Art Lead to enhance the development of our globally celebrated MMO, World of Tanks, which captivates over 100 million players worldwide.
In this role, you will lead a team dedicated to designing immersive environments and detailed maps that form the backdrop for dynamic tank battles. You will be instrumental in setting the scene through masterful lighting and mood enhancements, while also weaving visual narratives that resonate with players across the globe.
Success in this position requires a robust background in level art with a keen understanding of shape, form, color, composition, and lighting within game environments. A strong passion for game development and a propensity for collaborative work in a diverse, multicultural setting are essential to thrive in this role.
In addition to contributing to World of Tanks, you will also have the opportunity to work on one of our exciting unannounced titles.
Relocation to Prague is preferred, as most team members you will be collaborating with are based there. However, we are open to considering candidates from other locations, provided they are within reasonable time zones, allowing for effective collaboration.
The Level Art Lead will report to the Lead of Art
- Lead and collaborate with a team of level artists, actively participating in daily hands-on development.
- Create high-quality maps and hangars, ensuring they meet production standards and artistic vision.
- Coordinate with designers and the art director to ensure environments are on budget and align with the project’s quality and creative direction.
- Craft immersive lighting and atmospheric conditions to enhance mood and player experience.
- Manage asset lists and develop initial greyboxes as part of level design.
- 3+ years of experience as a Senior Level Artist or equivalent in the game industry, including team leadership roles.
- At least one AAA project in your portfolio.
- Strong proficiency in environment setup using texturing, propping, and lighting within leading game development tools like Unreal Engine 4 or CryEngine.
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Strong internal motivation.
- Demonstrable experience in managing art production, making critical art decisions, and providing constructive feedback to teams.
- Team development experience
- Speed or Matte Painting sketching.
- Advanced skills in greyboxing, with a focus on form, color, and lighting in 3D spaces.
