This role is focused on creating and implementing high-visual quality environment assets within Fortnite ecosystems. Working with Unreal Engine (UE) and Unreal Editor Fortnite (UEFN), you’ll be taking on a broad range of environment tasks to help build engaging experiences either as a prototype or an exemplar game. Within the London Lab team, you’ll work closely with the internal team on projects and also help support external creators and partners, imparting technical knowledge of the engine and also the principles of more sophisticated content. You’ll also work with several other teams across Epic, building long-term value for the industry by developing world-class games and experiences. You’ll use your experience to craft amazing work that can help brands, IP holders, and creators, and bridge gaps that ultimately expand the Fortnite ecosystem.
- Be part of a team responsible for innovating and providing awesome real time experiences within the Fortnite Ecosystem and wider Epic group
- Liaise with the producer and lead on the project to scope the work required, adding suggestions along the way to make artistic improvements and technical workflows
- Work with external clients to guide their teams in successfully creating gamified experiences. Use a multitude of techniques and workflows to create assets
- Navigate complex game maps inside Unreal Engine (UE) and Unreal Editor for Forntine (UEFN), suggesting ways to optimise assets and improve memory allocations across all platforms
- Confidently execute and work with minimal oversight
- Highly experienced environment artist with specialisation in natural and hard surface environment creation, modelling, set dressing, and lighting
- A strong eye for detail and an extensive knowledge of UE and UEFN workflows
- Adaptable and quick learning, the individual must have a diverse knowledge of other Digital Content Creation applications to make content and help aid workflows
- The confidence and ability to problem solve when things don’t work, either by directly solving them or liaising with developers to find solutions
- Always willing to adapt their work and think ‘outside the box’ for solutions
- A candidate who can take feedback well and also self-critique their own work
- A passion for film, gaming and Fortnite in general, having strong visual references to back up ideas
- A passion to always improve their own skill and help others improve theirs
