We are looking for an ExDev Artist to help us build realistic weapons, contributing to pushing the envelope for our production techniques and maintaining budgets while always being focused on the highest quality execution. Reporting to the Lead Weapon ExDev Artist, the ExDev Artist is a practical person, inspired not only by the games industry but with a passion for working with external teams to create something greater than they could by themselves.
Responsibilities:
- Provide art feedback and support external partners in creation of weapon art through documentation along with written and verbal communication.
- Writes creative briefs for content, utilizing style guides, visual targets and reference to convey creative intention and quality level of assets.
- Creates assets matching the quality and technical target of our benchmark assets for the project, keeping skills sharp to best support external artists.
- Collaborates with leads and project managers to determine budget, personal scope, defining deadlines and prioritizing backlog content to consistently deliver on time and avoid diminishing returns.
- Contributes to evolving workflows and processes for external development of weapons while maintaining and adding documentation about best practices.
- Works closely with other weapon artists, concept artists, leads and project managers to meet project goals.
Qualifications:
- You have 3 years + experience in the technical and visual execution for creating high-end weapons while also possessing a broad and versatile skillset with an emphasis on communication.
- Experienced in hard surface asset workflows, including asset production, modeling and PBR texturing, referring to experts for specialist level knowledge.
- You have capability in backlog and time management, organization skills as well as scoping to deadlines and constraints.
- You will own and drive a class of assets, delegating work and setting priorities together with leads and project managers.
- Identifies and breaks down complex problems, determining the optimal approach based on dependencies and project needs.
- Verifies visual and technical quality and makes suggestions of improvements where necessary.
