Do you love creating glitz and flash? Explosions and sizzle? Do you love VFX?? We are seeking a talented VFX Artist to join our team. The job will require working closely with designers, engineers, and other artists to create FX for awesome games. The ideal candidate would be able to thrive in a collaborative environment while bringing their own perspectives and strengths to the team.
- Work alongside the VFX Lead and art team to ensure that visual effects align with the overall artistic vision and technical requirements of the game
- Create real-time visual effects that enhance environments, characters, and combat; ensuring they react appropriately to in-game events and player interactions
- Work with designers, engineers, and other artists to create immersive, captivating, gameplay-oriented player experiences
- Collaborate across disciplines to ensure that assets are built intelligently to optimize performance, balance fidelity, maintain best practices, and consistent art style
- Participate in the creative process; help drive the concept process for game effects
- Demonstrate strong time management and prioritization skills
- Playtest with both the studio and the VFX team to review and iterate on VFX
- 2+ years experience as a VFX artist in game development
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating realistic real-time effects
- Self-driven autonomy, strong communication skills, and a positive attitude
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritize issues while collaborating with a team
- Experience with relevant software packages such as Photoshop, Embergen, Houdini, Substance, and/or Maya
- Strong understanding of artistic principles including lighting, composition, color theory, and animation principles
- Experience working with shaders and materials
- Ability to work from references and recreate them in engine
- Understanding of real-time VFX performance and optimization best practices
- Experience with UE4 (UE5) and blueprints
- Shipped one or more major titles on current generation/PC platforms as a VFX artist
- Experience with AAA First Person action titles
- Familiarity with asset tracking and issue tracking tools such as Perforce and JIRA

The estimated base pay range for this role is:
$70,000—$100,500 USD
