Epic is looking for a talented Lead Concept Artist to help build several initiatives as part of our collaboration with Disney. As a Lead Concept Artist you will work with the development teams to create memorable environments along with unique and compelling characters that exude personality and style. You will use your artistic expertise in color, composition, shape, and visual design to help push our iconic visual style. Your craft expertise in both character and environment design will provide the inspiration that will continue to push the boundaries of creating memorable experiences for our players.
- Collaborate closely with the Creative Director and core development team to drive and visualize many different types of content across several initiatives with Disney IPs
- Inspire, mentor, and manage a team of Concept Artists and outsourcing vendors
- Provide timely and detailed feedback for the concept art team and outsourcing vendors
- Coordinate with other art, design, and production teams to help accomplish the goals of the product
- Worked on at least one AAA game in a Concept Art leadership role
- A portfolio that demonstrates a range of styles, creativity, and craftsmanship
- Effective leader, collaborator, and problem solver able to coordinate with internal and external teams
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to accurately estimate tasks and maintain schedules
- Strong communication skills and understanding of various art disciplines (animation, character, environment, VFX)
- Excellent traditional artistic skills with a strong grasp of composition, anatomy, color theory, perspective, lighting, environment, architectural, character, costume, and graphic design
- 7 + years experience in the game industry working in AAA game development
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).
The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
California Base Pay Range
$165,686 — $243,007 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$165,686 — $243,007 USD
