We are looking for an experienced Character Artist to join our Skate team. This is an opportunity to join us at the beginning of full production on a new entry in the Skate franchise. You will report to Skate’s Character Director and work in collaboration with content creators on character customization features and content creation techniques. While this role is for someone who has experience across the entire character art production process, we are particularly interested in candidates looking to focus on or develop their expertise in creating sculpted, stylized clothing assets.

Responsibilities:

• Create high quality stylized character assets for our character customization system.

• Implement character assets into our character customization system.

• Explore how to optimize and evolve existing workflows and pipelines.

• Develop new, or enhance, existing character customization features and workflows for our live service.

• Create production guides, and reference assets to communicate with internal artists and external outsourcers.

• Participate in group asset reviews – both internal and external – and give peer feedback on all aspects of the character creation process.

• Communicate about the processes involved with the creation of character assets through meetings, presentations, and documentation.

• Attend all planning and team meetings; Build user stories and produce time estimates for project planning.

• Stay current with the state-of-the-industry in character modeling and surfacing.

Qualifications:

• 5+ Years Experience on video game asset production teams

• Experience shipping character content position on 1-2 shipped console/PC titles.

• Strong understanding of human anatomy and movement.

• High level of skill in 3D sculpture, materials/surfacing, topology and authoring blendshapes.

• Proficiency in the use of ZBrush to create sculpted stylized character assets.

• Proficiency in the use of Maya to create topology and UV’s for character assets.

• Understanding of how the components of a character customization system function with one another.

• A degree in Fine Art, Digital Art, Animation, Visual Design, or related diploma or certificate.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the range and benefits for your specific location.

Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
º $103,200 – $145,600 USD Annually
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
º $92,600 – $145,600 USD Annually
• Jersey City, NJ :
º $117,300 – $145,600 USD Annually
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
º $111,800 – $151,800 USD Annually
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
º $92,600 – $135,600 USD Annually
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $89,300 – $123,000 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
